Grant Recipients Announced!
We are pleased to announce funding for the following Lambeth and Southwark-based projects:
‘Refugee and Asylum Seekers Exchange’ based in Springfield Community Flats (Lambeth), the project will work to improve lives of disadvantaged local people, and to empower members of the community to overcome poverty by giving practical support, skills and knowledge to take control of their lives.
‘The Junior Apprentice’ run by The Hebe Foundation (Lambeth). Just like the TV programme ‘The Apprentice’ the project will work with young people aged 14-19 with the aim of bringing out leadership and talents in the young people as well as teaching them business and communication skills among other things.
‘Activities Organiser for the Crossway Day Centre’ run by Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers, the project will provide varied activities for vulnerable asylum seekers attending the day centre alongside advice and advocacy support on legal, housing and health matters, and other general support including provision of hot meals.
Based originally in the Almoner’s office in St Thomas’ Hospital and funding medical social work, the Trust has, for more than 100 years, supported innovative services, projects, clubs and evaluation and research reports in North Lambeth for people with health needs related to their social circumstances.
