Faith in Regeneration
Creating Opportunity for Children in London South Central
This project is led by Lambeth WelCare and churches and faith groups
of North Lambeth and North Southwark and has support from a wide
range of local voluntary and statutory agencies.
The aim is to improve the ways faith groups work with communities
in the London South Central area in order to break the cycle of
child poverty and to develop five new or substantially enhanced
partnership projects working with children and young people.
A Project Worker is in post and two Trustees represent the Cicely
Northcote Trust on this project. The Trust has agreed to assist
with funding for two years, subject to the balance of funding required
being raised.
Healthy Start
Healthy Start began in September 2004 and is currently funded for
one academic year.
It is a new project of the Lambeth Health Education Link Service.
The project worker is in post and she has been holding sessions
in Lambeth Primary Schools and gives parents and carers the opportunity
to meet and talk to health professionals in an informal setting.
The aim is to develop parents'/carers' awareness of
health issues, such as healthy eating, emergency first aid, child
development and behaviour and dental hygiene. An unexpected and
welcome outcome of the sessions has been the growth of positive
interactive relations between the parents who attend the group.
