The Cicely Northcote Trust is inviting applications from voluntary sector and social enterprise organisations working mainly in the Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham areas, (with a bias towards Lambeth and Southwark) that can offer services for ‘Young People in care making the transition towards adult life’
The fundamental remit of the Trust, from its start in 1909 when it made possible the extension medical social work at St Thomas’ Hospital, is to fund work that addresses the health and social needs of people of any age.
The Cicely Northcote Trust favours work that is above all, innovative and imaginative, but does not fund work that is already within the remit of the statutory services. The Trust also hopes for the establishment of projects that will run for the long term.
If funding is offered to a project or organisation, a link trustee is appointed to the recipient to offer help and advice, where appropriate, and to ensure that there is full accountability for the funds provided. The Trust requests both interim and final reports on work that is funded and, with permission, final reports are recorded on the Trust’s website.
The Trust usually distributes between £30K to £35K annually with a possibility for giving grants for 1 to 3 years. The trustees can be flexible about the funds they allocate but annual grants are unlikely to exceed £5K - £10K.
